My Time With - "The Great One" - Wayne Gretzky

In this special storytelling episode of the Imagen Golf Podcast, we're taking a break from swing mechanics to revisit one of the most unforgettable weekends in golf history: the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club.

While Dustin Johnson was busy battling brutal course conditions—and a highly controversial USGA penalty—to secure his first major championship, the real spectacle was happening outside the ropes. Tune in as I share my hilariously humbling, firsthand experience navigating the massive crowds... most of whom were ignoring the golf completely just to get a glimpse of Paulina Gretzky.

In this episode, we dive into:

• The Oakmont Meat Grinder: A quick look back at the punishing conditions and the infamous 5th-green rules debacle that almost derailed DJ's historic win.
• The "Paulina Posse": How a pop-culture phenomenon completely overshadowed the golf action, drawing a larger gallery than the tournament leader.
• Walking with The Great One: My surreal experience bypassing the paparazzi to shadow NHL legend Wayne Gretzky for three holes as he quietly supported his future son-in-law.
• The Ultimate Brush-Off: The polite, expertly delivered, and painfully funny moment Wayne Gretzky decided our little walking interview was officially over.

Whether you're a die-hard golf fanatic, a hockey fan, or just someone who appreciates a good dose of second-hand embarrassment, this is a walk down memory lane you won't want to miss.
